Northumberland National Park

The park extends across 410 square miles from the Scottish border to Hadrian's Wall, containing numerous walking paths through valleys and moorlands.

Established in 1956, the park preserves ancient settlements, medieval castles, and prehistoric rock art that demonstrate continuous human presence in the region.

The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre presents exhibitions about local traditions, natural heritage, and the connection between people and the land.

Four visitor information points provide maps, guidance, and details about seasonal activities throughout different sections of the national park.

The area holds the distinction of having the cleanest rivers in England and maintains the largest protected dark sky zone in Europe.
