Memorial Falls consists of two separate cascades dropping about 40 feet through adjoining sandstone gorges near Munising in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Access is provided by a marked trail from Nestor Street with a wooden bridge that connects viewing areas at both the top and base of the falls.
The Michigan Nature Association acquired this site to protect natural water features across the Upper Peninsula. The protected status helps ensure the waterfall formation remains accessible for future generations.
Local people refer to this place as Twin Falls because of how the water splits into two separate drops side by side. The dual structure creates different visual effects throughout the year as water levels change with the seasons.
Access is through a clearly marked trail starting from Nestor Street that is relatively easy to walk. The best time to visit is in spring and early summer when water flow is highest and the ground is dry enough for safe footing.
A natural stone arch forms between the twin waterfalls and is visible from certain viewing angles. Behind each water stream lies a cave system, adding a hidden geological dimension that many visitors miss on a quick visit.
