Stevens County, County in west-central Minnesota, United States
Stevens County spans 575 square miles of rolling hills and agricultural lands, with the Pomme de Terre River flowing through its central region.
The Minnesota legislature established Stevens County on February 20, 1862, naming it after Isaac Ingalls Stevens who led railroad surveys in 1853.
The University of Minnesota Morris, located in the county seat, transformed from the Morris Industrial School for Indians established in 1887.
The county maintains major transportation routes including U.S. Highway 59 and Minnesota State Highways 9, 28, and 329 connecting neighboring regions.
Due to a clerical error in 1855, another Minnesota county received the Stevens name first, which was later corrected to Stearns County.
