Hazlet, Township in Monmouth County, United States
Hazlet spans across 5.67 square miles of land near Raritan Bay, situated 37 miles south of Manhattan within New Jersey's sixth congressional district.
Initially incorporated as Raritan Township in 1848, the municipality changed its name to Hazlet in 1967, honoring Dr. John Hazlett who owned an estate there.
The township maintains eight public schools serving 2,703 students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, fostering educational development within the community.
The township committee consists of five elected members who oversee local governance, with the mayor selected annually from among these representatives.
The Route 35 Drive-In theater, which operated in Hazlet until 1991, marked the final chapter of New Jersey's drive-in cinema era.
