Henry Hudson Trail

The Henry Hudson Trail is a protected recreational path that stretches nearly 24 miles through western and northern Monmouth County. The 10-foot-wide paved surface runs through varying landscapes, crosses wetland areas, and passes through several communities.

The path grew from a railroad line built in the 1860s to transport farm goods to shipping docks. That rail route closed around a century later, and the corridor was eventually converted into a public walking and cycling path.

The trail connects different communities across the region and lets visitors experience the natural surroundings. You can see how local people use the path for jogging, cycling, or walking with family throughout the day.

The path is accessible from several parking areas at major road crossings along the route. The flat terrain and smooth surface make it easy for most visitors to use, and the open hours run from sunrise to sunset throughout the year.

The trail splits into two separate sections divided by a major highway, creating two different experiences for users. This break makes the southern part especially important as a connector between two town centers.
