Two River Theater, Professional theater in Red Bank, United States.
Two River Theater is a theater building in Red Bank, New Jersey, with two performance spaces: a main stage seating around 350 people and a smaller space for experimental work seating around 99. The three-story building also contains rehearsal rooms and dedicated workshops for costumes and set construction.
The theater was founded in 1994 by Joan and Robert Rechnitz, initially as a program at Monmouth University. It moved to its current building in Red Bank in 2005, where it has operated ever since.
The theater shapes the local cultural calendar by producing American classics, new works, and Shakespeare adaptations that draw audiences from the surrounding region. Between performances, the spaces come alive through artistic activity as rehearsals and production preparation take place.
The building is fully accessible, with wheelchair seating and assistive listening devices available in both spaces. Since the program changes with each season, it is worth checking what is on before planning a visit.
The costume and scenery workshops are housed in the same building as the stages, which is uncommon for a theater of this size. This means every visual element of a production is designed and built on site, without outside contractors.
