Seabrook-Wilson House

The Seabrook-Wilson House is a two-story residence in Port Monmouth with several additions built across the 18th and 19th centuries. The different building phases reveal how the family expanded and adapted the structure over multiple generations.

The structure started as a small cabin in 1720 and expanded under Thomas Seabrook's ownership to house ship owners and military officers. It later transitioned from private residence to commercial use as a boarding establishment.

The building served as a boarding house and tavern, becoming a gathering place for travelers and locals in this port community. Visitors can still sense how the space functioned as a social hub in earlier times.

The house sits within Bayshore Waterfront Park and is accessible to visitors exploring the grounds. It helps to locate parking beforehand and check which paths lead to the structure.

Local residents rescued the building from demolition in 1967, leading township officials to purchase and preserve it. This community-driven effort reflects how much the structure matters to the area's identity.
