Flushing Armory, Historic armory in Flushing, Queens, United States
Flushing Armory is a military building in Queens constructed with distinctive tower elements. An octagonal five-story tower rises at its northwest corner while a round three-story tower stands at its northeast corner, creating an asymmetrical fortress-like profile.
Built between 1905 and 1906, the structure originally housed the 17th Separate Company of the 10th Infantry Regiment. Later it became home to the 106th Infantry Regiment before serving other purposes in the following decades.
The building's architecture reflects European medieval military structures with brick walls, brownstone foundation, and crenellated parapets defining its character.
The structure sits on Northern Boulevard and currently serves as headquarters for a specialized police unit. Since it functions as an active government building, access for visitors may be limited or restricted.
The building features a large unobstructed drill space inside, held up by thick masonry walls. This design approach demonstrates early 1900s construction techniques that prioritized open interior volumes.
