Glenny Drive Apartments, Public housing complex in Buffalo, New York, US
Glenny Drive Apartments was a public housing complex in Buffalo consisting of six seven-story brick buildings that housed around 400 residents across a former quarry site. The layout featured multiple towers positioned closely together, creating a dense residential community that served working-class families.
The complex was built during the 1950s as part of the nationwide expansion of public housing and completed in 1958. It emerged during a period when the government was creating affordable housing options for working-class families facing displacement from urban redevelopment projects.
The residential complex provided priority housing to families displaced during the construction of the Kensington Expressway, addressing community needs.
The site is no longer accessible to visitors, as all buildings were demolished and the land was taken over by a medical institution. You can only view the area from the street, and there is no public access to the former grounds.
Erie County Medical Center acquired the site in 2017 following the demolition of all towers, which concluded in October 2018.
