The Omni Grove Park Inn, Arts and Crafts hotel in Asheville, US.
The Omni Grove Park Inn is an Arts and Crafts hotel and resort in Asheville, United States, built from local granite on the slope of Sunset Mountain. The property includes rooms with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a golf course, and multiple dining options spread across its sprawling grounds.
Fred Loring Seely designed the resort and had it built in 1913 within a single year, with hundreds of workers placing the massive granite stones by hand. Over the following decades, the inn welcomed presidents, industrialists, and artists who sought the mountain air and seclusion.
The building takes its name from Edwin Wiley Grove, a Tennessee pharmacist who funded its construction. Two enormous fieldstone fireplaces stand in the lobby, each more than twelve feet wide, and still serve as central gathering spots today.
Access is via a winding drive that climbs through wooded grounds to the main entrance. Visitors should allow time to explore the public areas, as facilities are spread across multiple levels and wings.
A waterfall flows over natural rock in a subterranean spa level, a design feature that drew attention when it opened in the 2000s. During the second world war, the property housed Axis diplomats before becoming a recovery site for Navy personnel.
