The district contains 26 buildings in the village center, including the Church, Huber Inn, Post Office, Swiss Museum, and Star Band Hall.
Swiss and German immigrants established this mountain community in 1869, constructing the initial buildings using local logs and traditional techniques.
The village maintains Swiss traditions through monthly square dances, the Helvetia Ramp Supper, and the Follow Your Bliss Music Festival.
Guided walking tours of the 45-acre historic district cost 30 dollars and include visits to the original structures from the 1870s.
The district features buildings in Carpenter Gothic style and log construction, reflecting the architectural preferences of the Swiss-German settlers.
