Hotel Utica, building in Utica, New York
Hotel Utica is a ten-story hotel on Lafayette Street in the heart of Utica, New York. The building includes a ballroom, dining areas, and meeting spaces spread across its floors.
The building was constructed in 1912 as a fireproof structure and was considered a solid and lasting presence in the city. It stopped operating as a hotel in the 1970s, then underwent restoration from 2006 and reopened in 2017 under the name DoubleTree by Hilton.
The hotel serves as a gathering place where visitors experience local Utica cuisine, especially specialties like chicken riggies and Utica greens. The surrounding area offers an active arts scene with theaters, galleries, and music events that guests can explore during their stay.
The hotel sits in downtown Utica, within walking distance of parks, restaurants, and nearby cultural spots. Guests traveling by car will find it easy to reach via the main city roads.
In 2018, the hotel hosted a fundraiser attended by President Donald Trump, the first presidential visit to the property in nearly 70 years. That visit drew national attention to a building that had quietly returned to life just a year earlier after decades of closure.
