Built in 1881 by architect Bruce Price, the estate served as a summer residence for James A. Roosevelt, the uncle of President Theodore Roosevelt.
The estate exemplifies the Shingle Style architecture movement of the late nineteenth century through its distinctive rectangular form and construction materials.
Located several hundred feet west of Sagamore Hill, the estate maintains 12.2 acres of land along Cove Neck Road in Nassau County.
The property earned recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in May 1979, preserving its connection to the Roosevelt family legacy.
