Lawrence Township Historic District

Lawrence Township Historic District is an area with about 45 buildings spanning different eras, displaying architectural styles from Colonial through Victorian times. The structures spread across a large territory along major roads and show how building practices changed over generations.

The area developed around a church founded in the late 1600s that remains active today. Over centuries, the community grew into a prosperous settlement whose varied architecture survives to the present.

The buildings here reflect the work of renowned architects and sit along what was once a major trade route. Visitors can see how the different structures and their arrangement reveal the area's past role as a prosperous community hub.

The district stretches for several miles along main roads and is best explored on foot, with most buildings situated close to the streets. Wear comfortable shoes and allow time to notice the different architectural styles as you walk.

One tavern building in this district has operated continuously since the mid-1700s, making it among the oldest continuously used structures of its kind in the region. This unbroken span of more than two centuries of service tells a remarkable story about the community's stability.
