Founded in 1966 on the former Meadowedge estate grounds, the museum preserves maritime artifacts and documents the nautical development of Long Island.
The museum exhibits showcase the traditions of local baymen who harvested shellfish from Great South Bay, including tools and photographs.
Located at 86 West Avenue, the museum operates Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Sundays from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The museum houses two National Historic Landmarks: the Rudolph Oyster House and vessels Priscilla and Modesty, representing Long Island's shellfish industry.
