Marquette Park, Municipal park in Gary, Indiana
The park extends along 1.4 miles of Lake Michigan beaches, featuring inland ponds, sand dunes, wetlands, a lagoon, and natural oak savanna areas.
In 1896, aeronautical pioneer Octave Chanute conducted essential hang gliding experiments from the sand dunes that now form part of the park grounds.
The Marquette Park Pavilion, constructed in the 1920s, functions as a central venue for community gatherings, celebrations, and cultural events throughout the year.
The park includes the Octave Chanute museum, multiple recreational facilities, and beachfront access points with parking areas for visitors.
