McCormick's Creek State Park

McCormick's Creek State Park encompasses a limestone canyon with numerous waterfalls, connecting to the west fork of the White River at 700 feet elevation.

The park became Indiana's first state park in 1916 when Richard Lieber acquired the land at auction for $5,250 during the state's centennial celebration.

The Civilian Conservation Corps constructed multiple limestone structures throughout the park, including bridges and retaining walls that remain functional in present times.

The park maintains eight marked hiking trails, an Olympic swimming pool, horseback riding facilities, and the Canyon Inn for overnight accommodations.

The Old State House quarry within the park supplied limestone for the construction of the Indiana State Capitol building in Indianapolis.
