The New Granada Theater is an Art Deco movie house and concert hall decorated with geometric patterns and ornamental details across its front. The auditorium holds roughly 850 to 920 seats and displays the hallmark design features of this architectural period.
The building was constructed between 1927 and 1928 and initially served as a Pythian Temple for the fraternal order. During the 1930s it underwent transformation into a theater to serve the local entertainment scene.
This venue was once a major stop for touring jazz and blues artists who drew crowds from across the city. The stage hosted some of the era's most celebrated performers and shaped the local entertainment culture.
The venue is located in the Hill District and is accessible by public transportation. Currently the building is not operational as it requires substantial renovation work before it can return to public use.
