Pocomoke River State Park, State park along Pocomoke River in Worcester County, United States.
Pocomoke River State Park covers about 370 acres across both banks of the river and combines freshwater swamps with elevated woodland areas. The landscape ranges from dense forests to open water expanses where visitors can explore different natural environments.
The Civilian Conservation Corps built recreational facilities and trails in the park during the 1930s. Maryland took over management of the area in 1939, making it accessible to the public.
The river's name derives from the Pocomoke Indian language and means "river of division". Visitors can still sense the water's importance to the local community by using the quiet shorelines and docks throughout the grounds.
The park has fixed entrance areas with parking and information boards to help visitors find their way. Boat launches, camping areas, hiking trails, and a nature observation pavilion are positioned throughout the grounds.
The park sits where fish and bird species from the north and south overlap, creating an unusually diverse aquatic animal population. More than 50 fish species, including largemouth bass and chain pickerel, thrive in these waters.
