Quaker Square, student Residence in Ohio, United States
Quaker Square is a former grain milling and storage complex in downtown Akron, Ohio, now operating as a hotel within its original industrial buildings. The site consists of large cylindrical silos and connected brick structures that together form a compact urban campus.
The complex was built in the early 1900s by the Quaker Oats Company as a major grain processing facility and operated for several decades. After production ended, the buildings were converted in the 1980s into a hotel and retail destination, preserving their original structure.
The round grain silos at Quaker Square have been converted into hotel rooms, giving guests the experience of sleeping inside a cylinder. The curved walls and small round windows are a direct reminder of what the building once stored.
Quaker Square sits in downtown Akron and can be reached on foot from most central points of interest. Parking is available nearby, and the outdoor areas around the buildings are accessible throughout the year.
The silo rooms measure about 30 feet (9 meters) in diameter, which means the bed sits in a curve rather than against a flat wall. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, giving the hotel the formal status of a protected industrial landmark.
