Riley Towers

Riley Towers is a residential complex in downtown Indianapolis comprising three buildings of varying heights that form a distinctive skyline. Two 30-story towers rise to approximately 90 meters while a smaller 16-story structure reaches about 48 meters, together holding more than 500 apartment units.

Construction began in 1962 as part of a downtown revitalization effort and the complex opened the following year. This project marked an important moment in the city's post-war urban renewal phase.

The complex is named after poet James Whitcomb Riley and has housed several notable Indiana figures throughout its history. Visitors can sense the site's connection to the city's local identity and cultural memory.

The complex sits in an easily walkable downtown location with straightforward access from surrounding streets. An internal skyway connects the towers to parking facilities, making navigation through the site straightforward for visitors.

The buildings feature distinctive cantilevered corner balconies that jut out from the facade, creating an eye-catching modern appearance when viewed from street level. This structural innovation from the 1960s remains one of the most recognizable design details of the complex.
