YWCA Blue Triangle Residence Hall

The YWCA Blue Triangle Residence Hall is a five-story red brick building with Classical Revival details and a limestone entrance surround at 725 North Pennsylvania Street. Its L-shaped steel frame structure was designed to house many residents in a compact downtown location.

The building was constructed in 1924 by architects Rubush & Hunter to provide housing for single women during a period of social change. It emerged when such facilities played a key role in supporting working women in urban areas.

The residence hall represents an era when organizations built dedicated spaces to support women's economic independence in cities. It shows how urban centers once created housing specifically for working women living on their own.

The building now operates as transitional housing with 96 units and provides job training services. Visitors should know it remains an active social facility that can be viewed from outside.
