The Cathcart, Historic apartment building in Indianapolis, United States.
The Cathcart features deep red brick and grey limestone construction with architectural elements reflecting early twentieth-century residential design at 103 East 9th Street.
Built in 1909 during an apartment construction surge, the building replaced a cottage that was given as a wedding present to Robert and Alice Cathcart in 1870.
The structure represents an important example of Eastern flat type apartments that shaped the residential development patterns of early Indianapolis neighborhoods.
The building maintains its status on the National Register of Historic Places, which provides opportunities for preservation funding and investment tax credits.
Mrs. Cathcart proceeded with the building's construction despite financial advisors warning against the project, marking an early instance of female property development.
