The Grover was built in 1914 as a three-story apartment building in Indianapolis. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The sources record no architect for the building.

The Grover's recessed entrance is framed by a limestone voussoir arch, and a limestone frieze runs along the building. These are the ornamental features a passerby can still pick out on the red brick facade, marking the building as an early 20th-century apartment house rather than a later plain block.
