The Richmond County Courthouse stands on Richmond Terrace with six Corinthian columns supporting a temple front pediment accessed by a grand staircase.
The construction began on December 27, 1913, but World War I delayed its completion until November 3, 1919, when it opened to serve Staten Island residents.
The neoclassical building, designed by Carrere & Hastings, represents the judicial system presence in Staten Island through its formal French garden and harbor views.
Located at 18 Richmond Terrace, the courthouse maintains regular operating hours from Monday to Friday, with metered street parking and public transportation access.
The L-shaped structure sits elevated on a sloping hill, featuring a dedicated law library that operated within its walls from 1920 until 2000.
