Caleb T. Ward Mansion, Greek Revival mansion in Staten Island, United States
The Caleb T. Ward Mansion stands at 141 Nixon Avenue, featuring a two-story portico with ionic columns and a rectangular cupola at the top.
The mansion was constructed in 1835 by Caleb Tompkins Ward after acquiring the land following the death of his uncle, Governor Daniel D. Tompkins.
The structure represents a period when Staten Island's North Shore attracted wealthy New Yorkers seeking residential properties away from Manhattan's urban environment.
The mansion received designation as a New York City Landmark in 1978 and earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
The estate originally encompassed 250 acres of land and offers extensive views across New York Harbor and the metropolitan landscape.
