Rocky Sullivan's, Irish pub in Red Hook, Brooklyn, US
Rocky Sullivan's was an Irish pub occupying a corner spot at 46 Beard Street in Red Hook, featuring multiple indoor seating areas with vintage phone booths and Art Deco styling. The space combined classic pub elements with nostalgic decor that gave visitors a sense of stepping into another era.
The pub was established in 1996 by musicians and a journalist, initially operating in Manhattan before moving to Red Hook. The relocation allowed it to become a center of community life in the waterfront neighborhood.
The pub scheduled Irish language classes on Tuesdays, hosted literature readings by writers like Frank McCourt, and presented live music performances four nights each week.
The pub served pizza, seafood, and local beers with standard hours from 4 PM on weekdays and earlier on weekends. It operated until December 2024 and provided a welcoming spot for meals and drinks in the Red Hook area.
Every Thursday the pub hosted a popular quiz night where visitors competed in teams for prizes and bragging rights. This weekly event had become a gathering point for trivia fans from across the city.
