Ski Sundown, Ski resort in New Hartford, United States
Ski Sundown is a ski resort in New Hartford featuring 17 trails spread across 70 acres of skiable terrain. Sixteen of these trails have lighting systems, allowing evening skiing until 10:00 PM.
The site opened in 1963 as Satan's Ridge Ski Area with a Hall T-Bar lift serving the slopes. It was renamed Ski Sundown under the ownership and management of Channing Murdock.
The resort hosts NASTAR racing events on the Gunbarrel trail, bringing together skiers from the region who compete in organized winter sports competitions. These events shape the social calendar during the ski season.
Five lift systems move skiers around the resort, including a quad chair and two triple chairs plus conveyor systems. It is helpful to explore the terrain early in the day for optimal snow conditions.
In 2024 Connecticut's first quad chair with conveyor loading was installed here, representing a major upgrade to visitor experience. This modern equipment significantly improves how skiers move through the resort.
