Soarin' Eagle, Steel roller coaster in Luna Park, Coney Island, US
Soarin' Eagle is a steel coaster at Luna Park on Coney Island featuring four-person trains that navigate a 1,293-foot track with two inversions and tight turns. The ride combines hairpin curves and barrel rolls in a space-efficient design.
Originally built as the Flying Coaster at Elitch Gardens in Denver in 2002, the ride was relocated to Luna Park in 2011. The Zamperla Volare model underwent reconstruction for its new home on Coney Island.
This steel coaster reflects how Coney Island continues to draw visitors with fresh entertainment while honoring its role as a classic amusement destination.
Riders must meet the minimum height requirement of 52 inches (132 centimeters) and should prepare for inversions, sharp turns, and a prone riding position. The journey lasts about 48 seconds, so visiting during quieter times can shorten wait times.
The ride positions passengers in a prone or flying position, creating a sensation of weightlessness during the two inversions on the compact layout. This horizontal orientation gives riders a perspective very different from typical seat-based coasters.
