St. Lawrence Catholic Church

St. Lawrence Catholic Church features a 150-foot steeple, cream brick walls on fieldstone foundation, and numerous stained glass windows depicting religious figures.

The church construction began in 1892 after Milwaukee architect Jon Paulu designed the structure, which received its National Register of Historic Places designation in 1989.

Czech immigrants established this church community in the 1850s, maintaining their language in religious services and instruction until the mid-twentieth century.

The church continues to function as a worship space under St. Therese de Lisieux parish, offering regular Mass services and religious ceremonies throughout the year.

William Scheer created frescoes of Christ's life in 1912, which Czech painter Louis Shrovnal restored in 1957, adding to the church's artistic heritage.
