The 391-acre park stretches along Tygart Lake, featuring a 1,750-acre water expanse and multiple recreational areas at 1,375 feet elevation.
The United States government transferred the land to West Virginia in 1945, following the construction of a dam by the Corps of Engineers in 1938.
The Nature Center provides interpretive programs throughout the year, teaching visitors about local flora, fauna, and environmental conservation through educational exhibits.
The park includes 11 cabins, 40 camping sites with electric hookups, a 20-room lodge with restaurant, and facilities for boating, fishing, and swimming.
The lake waters support diverse fish populations including bass, walleye, musky, crappie, perch, and northern pike, making it a prime fishing destination.
