Jamaica, Railroad station in Jamaica, Queens, New York, US

Jamaica Station is a railroad facility in Queens with six island platforms and ten tracks that serve Long Island Rail Road operations. The building connects multiple transit systems and provides access to different modes of transportation through its main hall and concourse areas.

The current building was constructed between 1912 and 1913 and replaced two earlier stations that previously operated at this location. This reconstruction happened to better serve the growing transportation demands of the region.

The station building displays classical architecture from the early 1900s with symmetrical facades and large windows that fill the interior with light. These design choices reflect how Americans built important transportation hubs during that era.

The interior gets crowded during rush hours, so arriving early and allowing extra time is wise for travelers. Signage and staff members throughout the facility help you find the right exit and platform areas.

The station connects Long Island Rail Road service to the AirTrain line heading to JFK Airport, making it a gateway for air travelers. This connection point allows people to transfer seamlessly between rail and airport transport.
