Hoxie House

The Hoxie House is a colonial residence built in 1675 with a distinctive saltbox shape, thick timber framing, and spacious wooden floorboards in every room. The structure displays the typical building methods of early English settlers in this region.

The house was built during the early decades of English settlement on Cape Cod and has survived more than three centuries with minimal changes to its structure. It stands as one of the oldest residential buildings from that era.

The house belonged to families who shaped the early community of Cape Cod, and its rooms display objects that show how people cooked, slept, and worked during the early settlement years. Walking through reveals the practical side of colonial life rather than just formal arrangements.
