The school, designed by architect Ulysses J. Lincoln Peoples, opened in 1902 after construction costs increased from $35,000 to $130,000.
The building contains eight classrooms arranged around a central rotunda, demonstrating educational design principles from the early twentieth century.
After serving as an educational facility until 2012, the building underwent renovations from 2015 to 2017 to transform into residential condominiums.
The school opened without ceremony on April 7, 1902, due to community dissatisfaction with project management and substantial budget overruns.
