Arsenal Junior High School

Arsenal Junior High School occupies a substantial brick building in Lower Lawrenceville displaying PWA Moderne architecture that blends Neoclassical and Art Deco elements. The complex now houses two separate schools: Arsenal 6-8 serving middle grade students and Arsenal PreK-5 serving elementary students.

The school was established in 1932 on the former grounds of the Allegheny Arsenal, which manufactured munitions during the American Civil War. The site was repurposed to serve the growing student population in the neighborhood.

The two schools share a building that sits in the heart of the neighborhood and draws families from across Pittsburgh. Local residents often gather near the grounds for community events tied to the schools' programs.
