Meadow Grounds Lake, Water reservoir in Fulton County, United States
Meadow Grounds Lake is a water reservoir covering 204 acres within State Game Lands 53 in Fulton County, Pennsylvania. The basin is held in place by a 39-foot-high earth dam and stores about one billion gallons of water at its normal pool level.
The dam was built in 1964 by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to create a major water storage facility for the region. This structure enabled recreation and fishing activities in the area for decades afterward.
The lake serves as a gathering place for anglers and outdoor enthusiasts from the surrounding area who spend time enjoying the water and wildlife. The tree-lined shores create a peaceful setting where visitors can watch birds and other animals throughout the seasons.
The lake is best explored during dry weather conditions, as the paths around the basin are straightforward to navigate. Visitors should prepare with appropriate footwear and be aware of local regulations for fishing or other activities in the area.
The lake was completely drained in 2013 due to structural deficiencies in the dam that required immediate repair. After eight years of intensive community effort, the basin was refilled in 2021 and has since been fully restored.
