Concrete Plant Park, Riverside park in Longwood, The Bronx, United States.
Concrete Plant Park is a riverside park along the Bronx River in Longwood that covers about 7 acres of land with restored green areas and walking paths. The grounds preserve original industrial structures from the former factory while providing direct access to the waterfront and connections to the broader Bronx River Greenway network.
A concrete manufacturing plant operated on this site from the late 1940s until 1987 when operations stopped and the facility sat unused for several years. The transformation into parkland began when the city and community groups saw an opportunity to restore the waterfront and preserve the industrial buildings as historical markers.
The site reflects how neighborhoods reclaim and repurpose old industrial areas into gathering spaces for residents. Local groups worked together with the city to turn this former factory location into a place where people can spend time outdoors along the river.
The park has two main entrances: one on Westchester Avenue in the north and another on Bruckner Boulevard to the south, making it easy to access from different directions. Once inside, the grounds are flat and open, with clear walking paths that connect to the larger Bronx River Greenway network for extended walks or bike rides.
The original concrete facility buildings still stand within the park grounds, preserved as working reminders of the neighborhood's manufacturing past. Rather than demolishing these structures, park planners kept them visible as physical connections to the site's industrial heritage and local identity.
