Claremont Park, Public park in Morrisania, Bronx, United States.
Claremont Park is a public park with a triangular shape bordered by East 170th Street, Mount Eden Avenue, and Clay Avenue in the Bronx. The grounds include two outdoor swimming pools, multiple sports courts, baseball fields, barbecue areas, and playgrounds for visitors to enjoy.
The land belonged to the Morris family beginning in 1679, until Gouverneur Morris sold it in 1848 to Elliot Zborowski, who built Claremont Mansion. This residence later became important as an operations center for the Parks Department in the Bronx.
The Mount Eden Farmer's Market operates here from June through November, bringing fresh local produce and community gatherings to the neighborhood. This regular event shows how the space connects residents and supports local farming.
The park is easy to reach and offers plenty of open space for different activities in various weather conditions. Visitors should come early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and take advantage of cooler temperatures.
A gazebo built in 1938 stands on the grounds and marks where Claremont Mansion once stood. This modest structure quietly reminds visitors of the site's history and is often overlooked by those passing through.
