Adams Memorial Building, Colonial Revival municipal building in Derry, United States.
The Adams Memorial Building is a Colonial Revival brick structure at 29 West Broadway with decorative stone beltcourses between floors, stone-capped pilasters, and an ornate roof cornice. The upper level contains the Derry Opera House theater with modern amenities including an elevator, updated restrooms, and seating in both the main floor and balcony areas.
The building was designed by George G. Adams and completed in 1904, initially serving as municipal offices and a public library. Major fires in 1914 and 1927 caused significant damage but the structure proved resilient enough to survive and later be restored.
The Derry Opera House on the upper level hosts musicals, plays, dance performances, and concerts that bring the community together. It serves as a vibrant gathering space for local arts supporters.
The theater accommodates about 350 visitors and features an elevator for easy access throughout the building. Modern heating systems ensure comfortable conditions during performances regardless of the season.
The theater balcony features restored seating recovered from the Boston Opera House, linking this local venue to a regional arts legacy. These salvaged seats add an unexpected historical connection to the space.
