Folly Cove, Diving bay in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States.

Folly Cove extends into the Atlantic Ocean with granite cliffs leading to a rocky beach and underwater walls reaching depths of 70 feet.

The cove received its name after a captain lost his vessel on the rocks when mistaking the inlet for a larger harbor in early maritime history.

Local diving communities gather regularly at this location to explore marine life, including torpedo rays, lobsters, crabs, sea anemones, and various fish species.

Divers need to time their visits according to high tide for safer entry and should consider parking arrangements at Halibut Point State Park or nearby locations.

The underwater landscape provides visibility up to 30 feet and water temperatures ranging from 64 degrees at surface to 55 degrees at maximum depth.
