Our Lady of Carmel Cathedral, Formosa

Our Lady of Carmel Cathedral is a Gothic Revival structure featuring pointed arches and ornamental details throughout its design. Twin towers rise from its facade, making it a recognizable landmark in the city skyline.

Construction began in 1896 on land donated by Manuel Martini, with the initial blessing performed by Father Gabriel Grotti in 1898. A major renovation from 1964 to 1966 redesigned the front facade and towers.

The cathedral serves as the spiritual heart of the local Catholic community, drawing worshippers for major feast days and religious celebrations. People gather here regularly to mark important moments in their faith.

The building is open daily and sits at an easy-to-find central corner, making it simple to locate and visit. You can enter freely to explore the interior and appreciate the architectural details.

The 1960s renovation was far more than a simple repair, completely transforming the building's original appearance. This makes it a noteworthy example of architectural renewal in the region.
