The Valley of the Thracian Rulers is an area between the Stara Planina and Sredna Gora mountains with around 1500 burial mounds scattered across the Kazanlak region. Approximately 300 of these have been excavated and examined, while many of the original sites remain closed for preservation.
The valley was the center of the Odrysian kingdom, one of the major ancient states in this region. The discovery of the ancient city of Seuthopolis in the mid-20th century contributed significantly to understanding this old civilization.
