Giersberg, Mountain summit in Siegen, Germany
Giersberg is a mountain summit rising to 354 meters in the Siegen area, part of the Rhineland Slate Mountains. The slopes are covered in forest with established trails for walking and climbing.
First recorded in documents from 1343, the mountain remained largely undeveloped for centuries. Building and settlement began in earnest during the late 1800s.
The mountain serves as a central point for the SEVEN SUMMITS SIEGEN event, drawing thousands of participants for marathon and hiking competitions each year.
Several walking trails provide access to and around the mountain from different starting points. The paths are clearly marked and suitable for various fitness levels.
Two railway tunnel tubes run beneath the mountain as part of a major transport route. A section of the European Long Distance Path E1 also crosses the summit area.
