Schloss Hegne

Schloss Hegne is a white stone castle complex in Allensbach on the shores of Lake Constance, featuring multiple buildings with rectangular windows and steep roofs. The property displays a central courtyard surrounded by green gardens and integrates various functions including hotel rooms, a chapel, and residential quarters.

The castle was built in 1580 as a summer retreat for the bishops of Constance and housed the region's religious and secular leaders. In 1892 the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross acquired the property, transforming it into a spiritual center with the religious mission it maintains today.

The castle reflects the presence of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, who lead daily religious services and spiritual programs within its walls. Visitors can sense the living religious practice throughout the different spaces and experience the spiritual character that shapes the place.
