Ain El Ahnech, Archaeological site and lake in Guelta Zerka, Algeria.

The excavation area extends across a prehistoric lake basin containing fossilized remains of elephants, equids, bovids, and stone tools from ancient settlements.

French paleoanthropologist Camille Arambourg discovered this location in 1947 during research focused on continental deposits in the Setif region of Algeria.

The stone tools found at this location demonstrate early human manufacturing techniques similar to those identified at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania.

The site requires a guided visit through the Algerian antiquities department and lies approximately 7 kilometers northwest of El Eulma city.

Dating back 2.4 million years, this location contains evidence of both early human tool production and interactions between prehistoric humans and carnivores.
