Trevinca

Trevinca is a mountain summit that rises to 2127 meters above sea level and marks the highest point between the provinces of Zamora and Ourense in northwestern Spain. The peak sits on the border between two regions and overlooks the surrounding landscape from its elevated position.

The mountain's name may come from Trifinca, meaning three demarcations, or from the convergence of three rivers: Xares, Tera, and Cabrera. This naming reflects the geographic importance the location has held since ancient times.

Local communities from both Galicia and Castile and León have long ties to this mountain, marked by seasonal celebrations and customs that still take place. These traditions show how important the place is to the people living in the surrounding areas.

Multiple hiking trails approach the summit from different starting points, including Laguna de los Peces in the south and Fonte Da Cova in the north. The routes vary in difficulty depending on which path you choose to take.

The mountain summit contains a designated bird protection area that spans multiple elevation zones and supports various species. This protected space makes it an important location for observing migratory birds and other wildlife.
