Lago de Truchillas, Glacial lake in Sierra de la Cabrera, Spain
The lake lies at the base of Pico Vizcodillo mountain, featuring deep blue waters surrounded by slopes covered with heather and juniper vegetation.
The area received official protection status as a natural monument through Decree 192/1990, establishing conservation measures for its glacial environment.
The lake forms an essential part of local identity in the municipality of Truchas, where residents maintain traditional connections to this natural formation.
A marked trail extends for 11 kilometers with a 554-meter elevation gain, starting from the parking area located 1.5 kilometers from Truchillas village.
The natural monument provides habitat for the Iberian Wolf and Pyrenean desman, contributing to the preservation of these native species.
