Mercado del Sur

Mercado del Sur is a wholesale market in Gijón featuring a pentagonal structure with cast iron columns and large ornamented windows framing its metal perimeter. Inside, approximately 32 businesses currently operate, selling a range of goods to both retailers and customers.

The building was established in 1889 when the Gijón City Council authorized its construction. It underwent complete renovation in the late 1990s and reopened in 2001.
