Hayne's Cave Battery, Artillery battery on the western cliffs of Gibraltar.
The battery consists of two gun positions situated at an altitude of 212 meters, providing strategic views across the Mediterranean Sea.
Built in 1788 and named after Captain Haynes, the garrison quartermaster who initiated the construction of Queen's Road during 1787-1788.
The battery forms part of the Gibraltar Nature Reserve, where local Berber monkeys from North Africa maintain their presence near military structures.
Visitors can reach the battery via Royal Anglian Way, which connects multiple military structures and passes through varied terrain requiring proper walking equipment.
The cave section of the battery was later converted into water storage facilities with tanks and pumps to support Gibraltar's infrastructure.
