Panorama Hotel, Mountain hotel in District XII of Budapest, Hungary.
Panorama Hotel is a mountain establishment at 455 meters elevation in Budapest District XII, situated near the upper terminal of the cogwheel railway. The two-story structure was built in Alpine hunting lodge style and contains guest rooms, a restaurant, and garden dining facilities.
The hotel opened in April 1939 with 23 rooms, designed by architects Dezso Lauber and Laszlo Bereczky in Alpine hunting lodge style. An expansion in 1941 added 18 more rooms to handle rising visitor numbers to the mountain location.
The hotel welcomed guests from abroad throughout different periods, remaining open even during socialist times when it operated under an alternative name.
The location sits directly near the cogwheel railway terminal, making it accessible from lower Budapest areas. A circular observation point on the property provides expansive views across the city.
The building was designed with Alpine hunting lodge elements, creating a distinctly European style on this Budapest peak. The circular observation space offers both views and a special spot to spend time between visiting the city below.
